Here are details of my relevant training and experience.
Trainee Veterinary Nurse 1987 - 1990 with Andrew Chestnutt and Partners in Ware, Herts. As well as working full time for this veterinary practice during this period, I had been a Saturday worker and general helper for 2 years prior to this.
I then went to London and worked mainly in an IT Consultancy role for 10 years.
In 2001 I gained an ITEC diploma in Anatomy, Physiology and Massage from the well respected professional school "Essentials for Health". http://www.essentialsforhealth.co.uk/shp/index.php?key=courses/itec_anatomy_diploma.php . This diploma is an NVQ3 equivalent and ITEC is an independent professional examinations board whose examinations are recognised nationally and internationally.
Over a period of 9 months I completed more than 200+ hours of theoretical and practical training in anatomy, physiology and massage.
Then in 2001 I left the UK to travel starting in Thailand where I completed a course in Thai Massage with Asokananda through The Sunshine Network. http://www.asokananda.com/
This is a global network of authorised training establishments and teachers who are dedicated to continuing to provide the very best of tuition, in the tradition of Thai Yoga Massage.
I was taught by Asokananda himself who was arguably the leading Western teacher of Traditional Thai Yoga Massage
During the next 3 years I lived and worked in Australia and New Zealand where I:
Managed a trekking centre
Worked at Ascot Racecourse in Perth as a licensed track rider mainly for a yard specialising in the breaking and pre-training of 2 year olds
Worked as a Jillaroo on a 1.3 million acre, 55,000 head cattle station near Katherine, Northern Territory
Undertook a 3 month 1000km horse trek from Hawkes Bay in the North Island of New Zealand to Christchurch in the South Island. Just 2 horses, 2 people and 1 tent. No support vehicles.
Worked as a track rider for a leading New Zealand South Island trainer.
Since returning to the UK I have graduated from the Oxford College of Equine Physical Therapy with a diploma in Animal Manipulation. I am a member of The Association of McTimoney-Corley Spinal Therapists.
This is an intensive year long course involving 140+ hours of college tuition plus completion of a written project and dissertation, 400+ hours of practical training with continuing assessment and evaluation.
I have also qualified as an Equine Body Worker with Equnenergy. This involves 90+ hours of college tuition with over 200+ hours of required fieldwork. I am now the Scottish representative for The International Equine Body Workers Association.
